Overall responsibilities:
Overall responsibility of the Logistics & Inventory Control Specialist is to provide effective and efficient operational support to the Consignment Distribution Center (CDC). This vital role within the organization will support the logistics, inventory control and established quality assurance procedures to ensure the seamless flow of product meets with set forth goals and objectives. This position will require knowledge of SAP, Warehouse Management System (WMS) or equivalent to ship, receive and properly document the movement of product to a variety of venues to include; sales representatives, show exhibits, demo events and/or internal stock locations as required. Assist management with special projects to lower shelf stock time of possession (TOP), provide support with established inventory control processes to ensure equipment and ID’s are properly documented.
Key areas of responsibility:
- Responsible for maintaining, monitoring and tracking inventory through SAP or CMS for accurate inventory control.
- Responsible for cycle counts and participation in periodic physical inventories
- Be able to identify damaged nonconforming equipment, microscopes and accessories, imaging and Advanced Biosystems kits; notify Nikon Consignment Management accordingly.
- Interpret Quality Assurance instructions, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), exploded parts drawings and repair manual specifications with limited supervision.
- Reference parts and product photo database to properly identify components within established kits and product lines.
- Use Consignment management program to scan barcodes on materials, be able to enter appropriate comments and notes as required in database.
- Assist with the management of the TOP 90 consignment inventory. Routinely coordinate the return of inventory with Service Manager at the Operation Center for the ultimate disposition of aged equipment.
- Work closely with management to implement scannable location system with new CMS software. Logical warehouse locations to be established to allow for cycle count program and to improve on overall inventory control.
- Coordinating the receipt and export of materials at the dock, communicating and notating all damaged or irregular shipments while retaining documents to meet company requirements
- Consistently run and monitor reports to ensure accuracy of inventory and workflow of materials is within business requirements
- Examine the timeline of national demos to better coordinate the timely shipment of consignment materials to reduce cost and drive on time deliveries
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment
- Responsible for packing, shipping and receiving of equipment
- Processing of all domestic and international shipments focusing on meeting required delivery dates while maintaining lowest freight costs.
- Coordinating all shipping and logistics functions to meet company policies and guidelines,
- Utilize current CMS to gauge overall freight cost and to ensure desired transit times are met.
Ancillary responsibilities:
- Coordinate all service repairs and report all quality issues to the Service Department in NY.
- Assist with Quality Control inspections and countermeasure action as directed by Senior General Manager, Service.
- Maintain and organize storage boxes, Kits, packing material, etc. in warehouse
- Follow all warehouse safety protocols
- Review incurred freight costs and implement freight reduction initiatives
- All other duties as required or needed.
Education, skills & experience:
- 3-5 + years logistics & Inventory Control
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Experience with MS applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
- Prior Distribution & Warehouse operations background required
- Technical Certification preferred
- WMS/SAP knowledge preferred
- Demonstrated time management and project management skills
- Working knowledge of inventory controls processes with a demonstrated ability to apply experience to resolve variances.
- Strong professional written and verbal communication skills
- Prior Distribution & Warehouse operations background required
- Ability to read and understand schematics diagrams
- Ability to work outside of regularly scheduled work hours as needed
- Ability to lift and move equipment up to 70 lbs.
- Able to operate warehouse equipment (hand truck, pallet jack, electric pallet stacker)
- Ability to read and understand information and ideas presented in writing
- Ability to develop constructive and cooperative working relationships with others and maintain them over time.
- Ability to make precisely coordinated movements of the fingers of one or both hands to grasp and move product from one area to the next.
- Position requires considerable use of arms, legs and moving your whole body such as stooping, lifting, walking, reaching, moving and handling products.

Compensation depends on a variety of factors including but not limited to; knowledge, skills, experience, education and location. The range for this position is $31 - $39 per hour.
