BioScience Trade Show & Marketing Specialist (Code: 2195)

Overall Responsibility:

Manages national trade shows and aids in marketing asset development for Nikon Instruments Inc. Responsible for administration of and developing messaging and marketing assets for national trade shows. Evaluates marketing performance following trade shows, implementing necessary improvements. Also responsible for generating content for other marketing programs including Nikon Instruments websites and sales materials. Works closely with the Marketing and Product Team to ensure all deliverables effectively meet organizational marketing objectives. Experience and Education: In-depth knowledge of Life Science applications and microscopy is required. Previous experience in creating marketing deliverables is desired but not required. Excellent organizational, technical and creative skills are a must.

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Manage and coordinate all activities relating to Nikon Inc. trade shows from administration to messaging and promotion
  • Work with product managers to determine messaging and products to showcase
  • Work with agencies to develop creatives for in-person and virtual tradeshows (e.g. booth movies, artwork, branding)
  • Develop sales materials (e.g. brochures, application notes, white papers) for dissemination at both in-person and virtual tradeshows
  • Work with the marketing team to develop promotional materials and campaigns for the tradeshow (e.g. advertisements, email blasts, etc.)
  • Manage the process for developing booth layout and design.
  • Prepare and conduct pre and post trade show meetings with Nikon Instruments Product and Marketing dept. as well as outside vendors.
  • Evaluates marketing performance following trade shows and implement necessary improvements.
  • Manage on-site coordination including set-up and dismantle of booth and inventory.
  • Manage trade show relationships with various vendors and unions for on-site location.
  • Manage housing; negotiate room rates, meeting rooms, food and services.
  • Coordinate space and site reservations for trade show booths.
  • Arrange badge registration for staff members attending trade shows.
  • Monitor expenses and process incoming invoices.
  • Establish internal numbers for national trade shows in SAP.
  • Aid Marketing team in generating marketing content
  • Develop technical content for Nikon Instruments global websites (application notes, white papers, product write-ups, etc.)
  • Develop sales tools (flyers, presentation materials, etc.)
  • Work with agencies to develop marketing creatives: from writing and proofing creatives to approving design and layouts for advertisements, email blasts, landing pages, press-releases, etc.


  • B.S. Business/Marketing or equivalent
  • Microsoft Office Suite applications required
  • Ph.D. in a life science field preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated experience organizing online webinars
  • Working knowledge of exhibit design and layout preferred but not required

Education, skills & experience:

  • B.S. Business/Marketing or equivalent
  • Ph.D. in a life science field preferred but not required
  • Microsoft Office Suite applications required
  • In-depth knowledge of microscopy
  • Working knowledge of exhibit design and layout preferred but not required
  • Demonstrated experience organizing online webinars
  • Adobe Creative Suite (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.)
  • Exceptional communication and writing skills
  • Well organized and detail-oriented
  • Excellent quantitative skills
  • Commercial awareness partnered with a creative mind
  • Must be available and able to travel to trade shows (up to 25% travel)
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships
  • Ability to use judgement to determine and execute strategy
  • Ability to work outside of regularly scheduled work hours as needed
  • Ability to travel to and from multiple work locations
  • Ability to analyze data and information.
  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
  • Ability to communicate information verbally and in writing so that others will understand.
  • Ability to apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense.
