Advanced BioSystems Specialist (Code: 2157)

Overall Responsibility:

Promote and drive sales of Nikon’s laser-based imaging systems. These include multiphoton, super resolution, advanced confocal, TIRF, and high-content screening systems. Be the primary system sales leader for the Advanced Imaging Specialists (AISs) and Bioscience Sales Specialists (BSSs) in your region. Develop a sales plan with your regional sales representatives and upper-level management to achieve or exceed your budget. Primary product sales responsibility will focus on high-end, laser-based imaging system sales (e.g., multiphoton, super resolution, confocal, etc.). Responsibilities for this position include:

Key areas of responsibility:

  • Develop a sales plan for the region to exceed your target budget and work with local representatives and management to promote the sales of laser-based imaging systems.
  • Provide advanced training to local representatives in your area to enhance their ability to sell laser-based imaging systems.
  • Provide feedback to sales management regarding: competitive issues, sales success and loss, pricing.
  • Prepare pricing quotations in Salesforce.
  • Keep sales opportunities up-to-date in Salesforce.
  • Maintain knowledge of current applications and how Nikon products relate as a solution.
  • As needed, provide advanced customer training for high-end products.
  • Maintain existing and develop new relationships with customers.
  • Provide demonstrations of laser-based imaging systems on an expert level.
  • Work outside of normal hours of operation, as needed, in order to fulfill essential functions and responsibilities
  • Work with Product Management to improve the marketability of current or future technologies.
  • Recommend improvements and provide feedback on Nikon’s current or future products.
  • Maintain an expert knowledge level of all laser-based products – particularly confocal, super-resolution, and multiphoton systems.
  • Expert knowledge level of Nikon’s laser-based products and how they each fit into a particular application.
  • Expert level of software knowledge and ability to perform advanced software demonstrations – including complex acquisition sequences, macro support/creation, analysis tools, and product integration.
  • Advanced operating knowledge of current computer hardware software, and peripheral devices such as DAQ boards and 3rd party products.

Ancillary responsibilities:

  • Maintain proper reporting for expenses and consignment, in accordance with Company policy and procedures.
  • Attend sales meetings, workshops, training events and seminars, as required.
  • Maintain customer database.
  • Provide weekly or monthly reports as requested by management or headquarters.
  • All other duties as required or needed.

Qualifications:

  • Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • MS Outlook
  • Customer Relations Management Software, such asSalesforce.com
  • Advanced knowledge of computer hardware and software
  • Strong knowledge of microscopy and scientific instruments
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Ability to lift up to 25lbs
  • Ability to travel, overnight and possible international, 50%
  • Ability to work outside of regularly scheduled work hours as needed

Education, skills & experience:

  • 3-5 year’s experience in a scientific and optical instrumentation environment
  • B.S. in Bioscience field required
  • Ph.D. preferred, but not required
  • Current, valid Driver License
